News broadcasters want to keep viewers interested, this is why they choose to cover controversial stories. People argue this is what causes the copycat theory. The copycat theory is when someone sees something on TV and tries to emulate the actions they saw. Does broadcasted shooting inspire other killers to go out and mass murder people? Do people copy what they see on tv? Studies say news coverage of suicide produces a 2.5% increase in actual suicides (TROMVIVB). For example when Marilyn Monroe allegedly committed suicide, this started a string of suicides. News broadcasters can also cause terror in the minds of people as they distort stories and make bold connecting with little or no evidence. A 2011 study found 71 percent of video games contained at least some mild violence, while 25 percent included intense violence, blood and gore (VVCUHE). This is a staggering amount, almost three quarters the amount of games contain violence. Which raises the question, is violence appealing to people. The reason that most games are violent is because that is what people want to play. There is a demand for game that contain violence. The top ten video games according to TechAdvisor: Star Fox Zero, Ratchet & Clank, Battleborn, Uncharted 4, A Thief 's End, Doom, Homefront: The Revolution, Overwatch, Mirror 's Edge: Catalyst. All of these video games stated above contain violence. I believe people are attracted to violence because it is suspenseful and unpredictable. Many parent are concerned about their children playing violent games because it is interact lessons on how to kill people. There have been many cases of children trying to model video games characters; for example in 2013 an eight year old boy shot and killed his grandmother after playing a popular game by the name of Grand Theft Auto.
