At the same time there wasn’t a commonly accepted political system in place to unite the Arabs with one another so as a result a lot of nationalist movements began. “Each nationalism claimed the exclusive right to command the loyalty and obedience of the citizens its proponents sought to govern.” (Gelvin 182) Which brings back, Woodrow Wilson’s twelfth point, the region wants to self-govern, Wilson wants to give them the right to self-govern, so the people should be allowed to create their own state and govern themselves. If the European powers are allowed to divide what is left of the Ottoman Empire without taking into consideration all the things in play, then that could open up a pandora’s box of problems for the present and the future. There is already a strong sense of nationalism present and if the people are told to move somewhere else or if another entity began to control the area it could lead to riots and
