Modern Wedding Planning
A wedding planner’s most important duty is to satisfy the needs of the couple who is engaged to be married. Thus, the task of a wedding planner will change for each project, because each wedding is unique. Yet, there are certain duties that wedding planners are expected to perform, that remain constant throughout each project, in order for them to be successful. These duties include hiring and communicating with vendors, reviewing the couple’s budget, helping to choose apparel, assisting in decorating to create a unified look, solving problems, and providing assistance on the day of the ceremony. These tasks are difficult, and require wedding planners to posses certain qualities in order to fulfill them, such as patience, communication, listening and organizing. My parents were the first of all of their family and friends to be married, and I was born shortly after. Thus, I was alive for all of my parents’ family and friends’ weddings, most of which I attended. Between the ages of 4 and 12, I attended over ten weddings, was a flower girl in three weddings, and a “junior” bridesmaid in one wedding. My constant involvement in weddings ignited my love for everything that encompasses a wedding. Since the age of 13 I have had my full wedding planned out in my mind - from the guest list to the color scheme. Trends (and my maturity levels) have changed, and my dream wedding is not the same as it was five years ago. Yet, I have continued to love…
