Greg is wearing half-buttoned pajamas with his hair a mess, while Pam and her family are dressed classy and well groomed. Greg presents himself as a passive, average male who is more sensitive and not as intelligent unlike his fiance’s family who mock him. Greg has to explain as to why he is a nurse since they cannot grasp the concept that someone would choose to be a nurse when they have the option to pursue a career like a doctor, and the fact that Greg wrote his MCAT yet still decided to be a nurse astonished both of them. When he finally builds the confidence to defend himself and his nursing career, Pam’s mother interrupts him to diffuse the situation and to prevent hurting the men’s egos.
