An example of a team I was involved in that was effective and a pleasure to be part of was a 2014 Transcat National Business meeting where senior management, sales managers, and operations managers got together the first month the new to discuss the Transcat’s strategy for the new year and how we as managers had to create plans to execute these strategies to achieve the company goals. Some of the goals were to retain a high number of existing customer, obtain new customers, achieve ten percent or more of revenue growth, provide outstanding customer service and quality to our customers, build stronger relationships with our customers, and develop our employees to achieve personal and professional success.

The leader of this team did not create any ground rules which resulted in chaos and an ineffective team. There was only talking, no dialogue was established. Certain members were allowed to talk over other team members, which caused team member to shut down. There was definitely a power struggle between team members. This did not create an environment that allowed team members to be open or want to brainstorm. Basically a waste of everyone’s
