Thomas Jefferson best represents America because he is one of the main authors of our Declaration of Independence, as well as a Founding Father of America. In the Declaration of Independence, he preached the ideas of unalienable rights, such as freedom and the right to pursue life in a way which brings an individual happiness. I selected Thomas Jefferson because these ideas are significant to America because these are the values that make up the foundation of our lives in present day America. In addition, Thomas Jefferson worked to reform public education and its result is the free public education Americans have today.

However, it was more than just our entry into World War II. The attack on Pearl Harbor’s naval base proved to other countries that America won’t stand to be pushed around. This attack provoked America to demonstrate the United States’ military might. In result, on August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Then, on August 9, they dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, which forced Japan to surrender.

Beginning at the end of World War II, Russian and American relations were rocky. This sparked the arms race, as well as the space race between the two countries. After years of work, the Apollo 11 Moon landing is significant because it proved to the Russians that communism wasn’t a superior form of government. In addition, it made a statement to fellow Americans that even space isn’t beyond our reach.
