Thomas Jefferson, an intelligent book collector, moreover the most noble founding father left a legacy through the Revolutionary Period and his time as president. He left his fingerprint on America by writing the Declaration of Independence, becoming the first ever Secretary of State, and making the Louisiana Purchase as well as many other feats.
Before Jefferson’s birth, Jefferson’s father, Peter Jefferson “patented 1,000 acres of land along the Rivanna River and built a plantation called Shadwell (Gordon-Reed, 27)”. On that very plantation is where the most noble founding father was born. He was born on April 13, 1743, and he spent most of his early life living in the Virginia wilderness.
