Elected in 1801, Thomas Jefferson was a well rounded visionary for his time. From agriculture to law, his knowledge encompassed almost every academic and scientific area. I consider him the greatest president in United States history because he was passionate about human rights, education, and minimalistic government. He never accepted defeat when his attempts to abolish slavery, establish public education, and decrease political control over states failed. Jefferson was truly a man for the people and a pioneer of philosophy.
