“When I treat other people with kindness and love, it is part of my way of repaying my debt to God and the world for the privilege of living on this planet” (Goodreads 1). This quote, taken from the book Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence, shows Ben Carson’s generosity and compassion towards other people. In many of his books, he uses life experiences as examples to teach others, inspiring them to spread joy and love wherever they travel. Carson’s approach on life is unparallel to any other. He enjoys life and perceives it as an opportunity to share his love for people and God to others. The reason he did so outstanding was because most evangelists and conservatives saw him as a beacon of hope for the future. He impacted many Christian churches by giving them hope that country could turn itself around from the acknowledgement that this country needs God in its life to survive. “If we acknowledge our need for God, he will help us” (Goodreads 1). This is the basis of Carson's political platform. Ben Carson used this plank in a few of the presidential debates in 2016. It shows evangelistic voters that a candidate supports what they support and is willing to fight for what they believe. Ben Carson also had a very promising system for healthcare, due to the fact he was a neurosurgeon. He created hope for his supporters because of his plans for the presidency. His political platform gave hope to people because of its republican pull, that many were longing for. “Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next” (Goodreads 1). Ben Carson wrote this in his book Gifted Hands, about his medical career, however,. It can be applied to his political career. When he ran for the office of the president with limited political knowledge, he challenged himself and showed others his compassion on the country and how he would fix it. He never looked at the presidency as an unattainable wall, so he climbed the wall and almost got to the end result.
