I. Introduction Martin Luther King Junior, the greatest influence of the Civil Rights Movement was just a preacher at the local Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was so special that he has a whole day on January 18th. He gained a lot of rights for blacks living in America. He was a victim of attempted assassination twice and he was successfully assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a very interesting person with a lot of events in his life.
I. Section one He was born as "Micheal". When he was five, both he and his father decided to change their names to Martin in honour of Martin Luther, the priest that brought about the Protestant Reformation. His dad was a big influence in his upbringing. His …show more content…
Section three The social focus for him was to end slavery. He was qualified because he had gone through the same problems of the rest of the black population. He was arguably the greatest leader of the civil rights movement. After his lengthy efforts, he did end up gaining rights for blacks living in America. This mostly occurred during the 60's, though a few events occurred in the 70's. As you can tell. The racial issues were a primary concern for him as well as equality for all, no matter what skin colour.
IV. Section four His leaderships caused a few riots and marches, a famous March was Selma. They actually created a movie about him named Selma. Because of his achievements most people have put the racial differences behind us and now don't judge us by the color of their skin, but by their personality. The Selma to Montgomery March, (which took place on Bloody Sunday) was a brutal one, and as a result, the voting rights act of 1965 was passed. This gave blacks the right to vote and that rule is still enforced today. His final years were kind of mixed because he was happy that he got the rights, but after a few attempts, he was
