There are countless of interpretations of the criminal justice system that we practice in today’s world. These are the three components of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections. (“Anonymous,” n.d.) The Texas Rangers were considered the first police association in 1835. Today’s organization consists of over 17,000 law administrations only in the United States. Sizes of police departments can range from small little cities, to cities like Chicago, or LA that have over hundreds of officers. Homeland Security and the Department of Justice are considered to be the two largest law enforcement agencies. Watchman style, legalistic style, and service style are the ways that have been identified to policing. According to (“Anonymous,” n.d.), The U.S has two legal systems: federal courts and state courts. “The courts operate on an adversary system in which the prosecutor and defense attorney operate as opponents (adversaries) and vigorously defend their client’s interest.” (“Anonymous,” n.d.) William Penn created correction houses in 1682 that consisted of practicing several things such as: hard labor, executions, banishment, etc. Many systems of the criminal justice system are considered to be corrections. Probation, parole, jail, and prisons are what corrections are considered. Unfortunately, the United States has suffered many terrorist attacks.
