People come to the United States from all over the world to get a better education. Although this seems to demonstrate the success of the American education system, I believe that there are many problems in the United States education system which is causing low educational achievements. There are different problems that children are facing due to poverty, structural racism, and other important societal factors. Not only these factors but also the academic issues. There are issues or complaints about how the school teaches and its outcome for the way it’s being taught in the school.
One of the biggest problems that the US is facing with Education is Poverty. As mentioned in the article ‘’Student Poverty Isn 't an Excuse; It 's a Barrier’’ it stated ‘’that the stresses related to student poverty are hunger, chronic illness and, in too many cases, trauma—are the key barriers to teaching and learning’’. Helen Ladd argues that students who are living in poverty do not have the ability to meet their basic needs such as food and any sources that could keep them alive since they have a low income. As a result, many of them ended up starving and there wasn’t really any medicine that could prevent them from their sickness. Coming to realize this, seeing many people die because of hunger is a tragedy and although these problems had occurred in the past, it’s still happening right now in our lives.
