Hinduism in America In this paper I am going to talk about the religion of Hinduism and its role in the United States and in the city of Philadelphia. As a Hindu it is a great opportunity to learn more about my religion because Hinduism is complex and interesting religion to research about. In this paper I will talk about Introduction of Hinduism, Sacred texts, Notion of Karma and Reincarnation, Sacred symbols, Hinduism in the United States, Hindu temples in Philadelphia, Hindu Festivals and many other interesting facts about Hinduism.
Introduction of Hinduism: Hinduism is the religion of around a billion people. Most of them reside in India, after that in Nepal. There are almost two million in the United States and significant numbers in Great Britain, Canada, the Caribbean, Australia, and East Africa. Striking by diverse beliefs, practices, organizational structures and multiple chains of authority, Hinduism is one of the oldest and largest religions in the world. This vast tradition has been disseminated through performing arts, texts, visual arts and architecture. To understand Hinduism, it can be explained as one umbrella category or as several traditions, many Hindus do not just embrace beliefs and texts but they also exercise healing, performing arts, geomancy, astrology, and architecture.
