Have you ever felt a weight on your back, felt as if you're carrying another person? Well, this story is for you. In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George, the main character, is placed with the burden of taking care of his large friend with a mental disability, who seems to find trouble everywhere they go. During their adventure George gets in trouble on their first job and then they are forced to move to another farm to work and get money.Lastly in the book Lennie kills the boss's wife and he is searched for and george mercy killed him because the boss would have made him suffer. In the book Of Mice And Men Steinbeck portrays Slim as intelligent, generous, and humble.

On page (19) of John Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men "It ain't so funny, him an' me goin' aroun' together," George said at last. "Him and me was both born in Auburn. I knowed his Aunt Clara. She took him when he was a baby and raised him up. When his Aunt Clara died, Lennie just come along with me out workin'. Got kinda used to each other after a little while." "Umm," said Slim. George looked over at Slim and saw the calm, Godlike eyes fastened on him. "Funny," said George. "I used to have a hell of a lot of fun with 'im. Used to play jokes on 'im 'cause he was too dumb to take care of 'imself.”’ This quote states that Slim stayed calm and collected when george raised his voice at him about lennie and how lennie is not crazy but just slow. This show that Slim is respectful because even when george got mad Slim respected him and kept his cool and did not argue against him.
