The Government 's diet
In the past couple of years, the U.S. government has been slowly but surely, regulating the food that we can eat. This is especially true in schools across the country. The more years that past, the more the government is trying to change the what people eat. They are starting first in children’s schools to prevent kids from being obese. Some say they need even stricter regulations and some say less. There are pros and cons to each side of this argument. Regulations help the future children of America become fit and possibly help them make better decisions that can improve their well-being. On the other hand, doing this, interferes with the American constitution and American’s rights to choose what they want to eat.

Today, there are a lot of obese and over-weight people in this country. The government has been trying to reduce the number of people who are obese and over-weight. This is shown by a story covered by NPR morning edition. Linda Wertheimer who is the host, reports that 11 of the nation’s biggest food and drink companies are agreeing to stop advertising their unhealthy products to kids under 12 years old. 3 of the big companies are General Mills, Pepsi, and even McDonalds. They have agreed to stop airing the ads during cartoons, but will air them during family shows. I would say this a good thing that these big companies and corporations are doing. They are taking responsibility and acknowledging that they contribute to the Nation’s obesity and over-weight problem, especially in Children. Yves Engler (a Montreal-based activist) claims that these big companies need to take charge of the problem they are helping to produce. She has done extensive research on this topic in the past few years. There was a report on coffins in the U.S. that coffins needing to be resized for some people due to their weight. This causes some concern for the people of America because this shows why people need to take care of themselves. Food has increased over the past 20 years, even the hamburger has grown well over 112 percent over the last 20 years. This is according to the research done by Yves Engler. She further goes into detail about how companies need to tighten their grip on the fast food industry and just she also expresses that junk food should not be allowed in schools. She even goes as far as to explain that the government should get involved and fund schools for more physical education classes and for more places for kids to do some physical
