The government should not have the right to regulate the American diet, but inform people of what they are putting into their bodies. Based off nutritional information we have, we can make decisions for ourselves. Our diets are currently based on many factors including where we live and what we believe. It is our right as Americans to live freely and make our own choices. As Mr. Brownell states “You don’t need a study to prove anything, you just have the right to know.”(Rosenbloom 2).

People who have from graduated high school and from college have a lower chance in being obese as an adult. People who have not graduated from high school have a 33.6% chance of being an obese adult. People who have graduated from both high school and college only have a 20% chance (Education Level and Obesity 1). Instead of the government telling children what they can and cannot eat or drink, they should be teaching them how to make the better choices so they can understand how to live a happier healthier life from a much earlier age.
In conclusion, I think the government should not be allowed to control our diets. People should be informed and made aware of their own health needs. When informed, the public has the ability to make better decisions. This way we have the freedom to choose our own diets and our own
