Everyone had that same feeling on D-Day. To the troops, generals, and even civilians everyone was on their toes waiting for one of the greatest invasions in history, where the Americans, French, and Canadians launched the attack on the beaches of France against the Germans. D-Day was a tremendous battle in American history which caused many deaths, diminished Nazi power, and destroyed families all over the world.
Moreover, Operation Overlord, otherwise known as the Normandy invasion and/or D-day, was an operation to gain France back and liberate Paris from the Germans. Germans pushed French people out of France in order to gain more land and supplies. Most of the commanders of the attack met in London, other parts of Europe, or the east side of the world. They launched the attack from different parts of Great Britain to France on the five beaches. They wanted to launch the attack on May 4th but postponed the attack to June 4th because of a lack of aircrafts and due to the weather. D-Day will go down in history as the battle that destroyed the Nazis and took them out of the state of world domination. All of the troops that served on D-day will be remembered forever, missed, and respected for the huge service they did for the country and especially the world for putting their lives on the line for others safety.
