In an effort to learn about the process of aging and what it means to someone who is considered an older adult, my main question are based upon skill standards include gathering and analyzing information about the person experience. For the purposes of this paper, I will refer to my grandmother interviewed, who is approaching seventh sixty years old. Born 01/01/1940, she was born in Somalia. During my interviewed my grandmother told her two parents are died before her thirtieth birthday, her mother dying of a young age after suffering from tuberculosis, which caused her to live her last years of life isolated to a hospital. When I asked my grandmother about her thoughts on aging, she answered by stating that aging is “a natural progression put out by God. I am not scared to die and instead, I look at each day as a gift. I don’t see aging as a positive or a negative, but just a normal, natural process.” My grandmother decided by adding that, o Early adulthood,f course, be afraid of aches and pains do in fact come with age, but so does increased knowledge and the opportunity to continue to learn about oneself and grow from those reflections. As the conversation between me and grandmother continued on, I noticed that she did have concerns about aging, which became more apparent in her references to financial issues poor job living a healthy lifestyle.
