The function for scripting languages is, “executing instructions written in a programming or scripting language, without previously compiling them into a machine language program” (Parham 2016). So essentially what makes them different for any other languages is that it skips a step and uses what is already there to make a program function faster. When using a scripting language the programmer is prioritizing the speed of the development of the app rather than how fast the app will run. Meaning that if there are bugs or hitches they can be resolved quicker but not necessarily completely solved. It does different things and it also takes time to actually learn it. It is not possible to grasp all the intricacies of a scripting language in a day or two. It takes time just like any other language and even if it did only take a day to master it could still be classified as a genre since genre is ever changing to include all types of activities. At the end of the day most people just lump all programming languages together as one big mesh of random numbers on a computer screen even though they all have their different qualities. Scripting languages has all what it needs to be a genre; it has specific users, purpose, and a community
