She believes in giving back to people in need and making others aware of issues that are going on. She tries to contribute help any way she can. By doing so “She Co-founded Almasi in 2011, an organization dedicated to continuing arts education in Zimbabwe” (Wikipedia). Danai wanted to give back to Zimbabwe where she found her passion of fine arts, because fine arts gave her a way of expressing herself. She also tries to raise awareness about women’s rights. “Gurira signed an open letter begun by the ONE Campaign. The letter was addressed to Angela Merkel and Nkosazana Dlaminizuma, urging them to focus on women as they serve as the head of the G7 in Germany and the Au in South Africa respectively” (Wikipedia). While living in Zimbabwe and during a time where the country was rebuilding itself from the damage that was caused during the war, she became aware of how women were treated. She knew with the voice she gained with fine arts that she could make her voice be heard by others and ultimately giving the women who live in poor nations a chance to stand up and be heard.
Danai has written many other works, including her most recent playwright called “The Convert, which is about a girl who’s conflicted over choosing her family traditions versus the Christian faith and Western values” (Gurira). This play is similar to Eclipsed because both plays centered around a female lead whose questioning what to believe in. They both are trying to find their way

After reading The Great Escape and Half the Sky and considering each one carefully, I would say that the way Kristoff and WuDunn explains about helping the oppressed people and offering aid, it is more specific and very carefully explained then Angus Deaton. For this reason, I would say Kristoff and Wudunn would be right about the foreign aid. The aid help that the Half of the Sky talks about is helping specific causes that are hurting the world’s progress because most of them are crimes against women that are most of the time voiceless.…
