One very important one was the effect of race, where privilege and opportunities were given to whites and not people of other races. In San Antonio you can see this when you compare the north and the west side, whites were given loans and government assistance to build homes and businesses while other races were denied these opportunities. This created a vast gap in wealth in San Antonio that still exist today, reflected in my service learning at Our Haven of Hope Food Bank, where people of color made up the dominant population, with a small number of whites. The break down of other countries economy like Africa, the Caribbean, India and Mexico etc., created push factors that would see an influx of immigrants, reflected in San Antonio diverse population. While I did not deal with a large immigrant population in my service learning, I can see this occurrence in my daily life, meeting individual who left the poor economic conditions of Mexico and even Jamaica for better opportunities here in
