Some people can be working very hard but have to support their kids and themselves while being able to pay for house bills and other necessities. She wants her readers to understand how hard life can get and that the worst thing to do is to start shutting someone out and not offer the help needed.

People must make them feel like a normal human being and give them the confidence and motivation they deserve to succeed. People living in poverty have seen and experienced many things that most people have not and this can be a huge asset to them. They develop new strengths and characteristics that can be effective in getting a job or higher education. Communication is also very important in helping people out of poverty because they speak in they own slang and do not fully understand the “proper” way to speak English. Just by working with them and politely correcting them during a normal conversation can go a long way and make a huge difference. People need to build real relationships with people in poverty and actually prove they care about that person and their well-being. By showing you are physically and emotionally present in their lives can give them the hope and that little push into doing something with their lives. Growing up in poverty people are told they do not belong and they are worthless so obviously they have a negative attitude about everything but if people just took the time to find out the good things about them it could change their whole behavior.
