There are three ways of how sick people deal with their body image. The haunting names of two of these illnesses: bulimia and anorexia. Bulimia starts off as normal eating, but later, they purge the food. Therefore, the person rids of the food either through puking, laxatives, or excessive workout. To display, “Bulimia nervosa is a serious, potentially life-threatening eating disorder characterized by a cycle of binging and compensatory behaviors such as self-induced vomiting designed to undo or compensate for the effects of binge eating.” (1 Bulimia Overview and Statistics) Anorexia is like Bulimia, except the food doesn’t arrive in their body at all. People with anorexia don’t eat food, or barely eat enough to keep them alive. Consequently, both people with these diseases frequently end up dead or recovering in the hospital. The third option is much more effective: to receive help. Said by Tina Fey, “Do your thing and don’t care if they like it.” (Tina Fey) By talking to people and asking for support, one can slowly gain more confidence and feel better about yourself.
