As I need to start, this article is about the book which is called 'The McDonaldization of Society' ,that was written by George Ritzer, is not directly about the McDonald's.Actually Ritzer wanted to analyse the societies of modern period and he used McDonald's as an instrument to simplify the thoughts of his about the rationalization of modern society and to reach to readers.In this essay I will try to tell you that what does he mean while using this instrument? According to Ritzer, McDonaldization is continuation of the Max Weber's theory of rationalization.Also according to Weber, rationality is the thing that people are seeking efficient tool for a specific purpose and it is shaped by regulations and by larger social structures.People …show more content…
However the last example that he mentioned is really striking.McDonald's says how many billion of hamburgers it has sold than the quality of these hamburgers and also they call the 'Big Mac' but why they do not call it as 'Good Mac'? It proves that 'Quality' comes after the 'Quantity'.In the fourth part Ritzer claims that all the workers in the McDonald's or in the other restaurants are like robots.Because they get the same training for the job.They are also limited by some machines for example drink dispensers which shut themselves off when the cup is full,buzzers,bells etc. Some machines or tools like that dictate workers' behaviours and also people feel like they are dealing with human robots when they relate to the workers of a fast-food restaurant.He also claims that when human robots are found, mechanical robots cannot be far behind.Once people are reduced to a few robot-like actions, it is too easy to replace them with mechanical ones.In the fifth part Ritzer examines the principle named 'Control'.He
