Concerning Soundtracks
One of my favorite parts of film is the soundtracks that are constructed for them. Some of my personal favorites are the soundtracks from Peter Jackson’s film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s magical and majestic book trilogy The Lord of the Rings. There are three soundtracks in total, but I am going to focus on the one from the first film, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) soundtrack was composed, orchestrated, and conducted by the creative Howard Shore, and performed by The London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Oratory School Schola, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. In the special feature Music for Middle-earth Howard Shore said that he was highly invested in creating a film score that would live up to the legacy of Tolkien’s work spending nearly two years working on it. His hard work and dedication led to many memorable pieces.
The first out of my song selection is Concerning Hobbits, the second track on The Fellowship of the Ring film score. Considered to be one of the happiest tracks in the entire trilogy Concerning Hobbits it is used throughout the film in most Shire scenes and moments of peace. An example would be at the beginning of the film where Bilbo is narrating and describing the lives of Hobbits and what it is like living in the Shire. Here is a link to the example on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLBQTsRGLJQ. The overall effect of the song is very peaceful…
