Despite the cycle of growth and collapse, in all of its incarnations the Klan has managed to sustain its foundations of hate and violence. Although the KKK are infamous for their mistreatment of minorities, the group views their actions and morals as good. Visiting the KKK’s official website reveals how they view themselves is radically different to how the public views their beliefs and actions. According to the site “Guardian”, their overwhelming pride and love for their purpose and members caused extreme narrow-mindedness and exclusion. The Klan has constructed an ideal country, one that doesn’t include homosexuals, immigration, race-mixing or drugs. Their passion to instate this ideology has translated into racist acts, violent endeavours and using fear as a tool to maintain power and significance in a society that strives to advance. The Ku Klux Klan primarily generates fear through public attacks, such as lynchings, which the Klan used frequently throughout the Civil Rights Movement. Because of the large scope of topics contained on the site, the material collected was not bias. Additionally, the information was corroborated by the second source, “Guardian”. This source, though not specifically a history website, proved unbiased by simply stating facts that happened such as the history of the KKK and their beliefs. The final source, retrieved from the site, “Archive”, provided bias information that was totally against the efforts of the KKK. Created by an anti-defamation league, the material found on the site was separated into two sections: factual and opinion based. The site provided information on the goals of the Ku Klux Klan and it’s progression from mere social fraternity to “right-wing hate group”. Overall, the sites used were mostly unbiased and all provided detailed information on the beginnings, goals, and progression of the KKK. Although the purpose of the KKK was completely opposite to the Fight for Equality in the 60’s, how the Klan acted during this period due to their philosophies began to prove beneficial for the Civil Rights Movement
