Every day more than about 3,000 teens under the age of 18 smoke their first cigarette and most of them become daily smokers. Smoking tobacco as a teen can affect you faster than when you are an adult, it can permanently mess up your lungs and that can start to make them slow down. No matter what age you are smoking tobacco is the leading cause of early death. “There are more than 480,000 deaths per year in the America, and 42,000 deaths that happens just for being victims of secondhand smoke” (CDC).
Lastly, smoking tobacco can also not only harm yourself but it can also harm your unborn child. SIDS which is short for sudden infant’s disease syndrome is mothers who smoked during their pregnancy or babies that was exposed to some type of secondhand smoke are likely to die from SIDS. It can also cause the baby to have weak smaller lungs, breathing problems, attacks, and ear infections. Smoking while pregnant can also cause your child to be born a few weeks early which will make your baby become premature and your child would have to stay in the hospital for a few days maybe even a few weeks.
In conclusion, tobacco should be illegal in America because it is very harmful and can cause you to die early, it starts to mess with the way you look on the outside just as much as it does on the inside, and it is dangerous for new born babies who inhale tobacco through secondhand smoke and unborn babies who mother smoked during the pregnancy and can cause your child to become a premature
