How much of a toll does education have on our future? During the summer before my freshman year of college, my grandfather got diagnosed with stage 4 Colon and Liver Cancer. This was such a tragedy for my family, especially my grandfather who is still so young. To watch someone you love become so sick only makes you want to help them in any way possible. Having such a tragedy strike in my family only motivated me to do better in school. Nursing was something I had always been interested in, my pediatrician inspired me as a little kid. I always wanted to be her and help kids get better, I loved the idea of working with kids all day and handing out lollipops to children at the end of the visit. Personally I think that nothing can beat the feeling of knowing you helped someone get better.

Skills like this will always be useful when submitting a resume for a job or having to write a report for a patient. In Career Coach: Are writing skills necessary anymore? Joyce Russell says, ” Using an informal style — relying on abbreviations, not using punctuation and failing to capitalize — does not come across as professional.” with the increase in technology we as humans still need to know how to properly write a letter. Looking back at my high school English classes the main focus was more on vocabulary tests or being able to fully understand a poem. English classes never focused on proper writing skills, and that is definitely more important. I don 't think I was prepared enough to go into the grown up the world and be able to submit a proper

One of my quirkiest traits―and a consistent topic of laughter amongst my friends―is my ever-present and never-fading habit of texting with perfect grammar. Semicolons, commas, and colons all make an appearance in my texting, a side effect of wanting to be a book editor when I grow up. Some might argue that because I use texting as a form of communication, my writing skills have regressed. Others argue that texting has actually benefitted my formal writing skills. In Michaela Cullington’s article, “Does Texting Affect Writing?”…

I, Marie Curie, agree with what Barack Obama says in his State of the Union speech in 2014. He has many great points, especially about education. I am also very happy to hear that more and more people are obtaining an education. Something like this would have never occurred when I was a kid. After elementary school, I went to a school that prepared Polish people to become teachers.…

In the writing “I Won’t Hire People Who Use Poor Grammar”, Wiens compares the nuances of writing code to that of using Grammar, “good writing…programming, the devil is in the details.” (Wiens 104), in that the details make up a larger esthetical component of the writing than it would otherwise make up. This means that a grammar mistake (i.e. to instead of two) accounts for a significant portion of how the writing will be seen. If it is grammatically okay, then the meaning and purpose of the writing will be seen. However, if the writing contains grammar mistakes, then the reader will begin to look at all of the mistakes that the writer made, and in turn will not have a full view of the meaning and purpose of it because they were looking at the…

When people ask me why I am interested in nursing, my thoughts always return to my late father. I was his caregiver for eight months while he battled with lung cancer. During his hospital visits and treatment we encountered many different nurses. Some of the most memorable were the hospice nurses that cared for him during his last days. My feeling at that time was that it takes a special kind of person to be a hospice nurse.…
