Frodo goes through great obstacles just to save the lives of others. Frodo does not seem to be up to the task of saving someone’s life. As a child of God, we too seem to not be up to God’s challenges. He, Frodo, is not suited for war. Frodo is chosen anyway, as we are. Isaiah chapter 11 verse 6 says, “. . and a little child shall lead them.” (Bible Gateway, KJV Isaiah 11:6) The Hobbits are waiting for the coming of a king. The coming of the king represents our waiting for the Second coming of Christ. The king will free the people as Christ will free all of the Christians from the world. Hebrew chapter 9 verse 28 informs us that,”So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” (Bible Gateway, KJV Hebrew 9:28) The Lord will come again one day for our salvation. One might ask himself, Why did Tolkien put Christian symbols into The Lord of the Rings? It is so, “he did it to communicate the Christian faith in a subtle, indirect way, but in such manner that the reader or in case of the movies, the viewer, gets the message unconsciously.
