The people who increase the amount of individual getting infected are usually those who arent aweare they have a std.So inorder to lower down the std rate and the cost it is inportant to properly educate people. What might be common sense to some isn 't to many like the fact that educated individual know that many STDs can be treatable, although there are some that are not treatable, one must be careful. If an STD is left untreated, more complicated health problems can arise. In the United States, an estimated 15 million people become infected with one or more STDs each year. In addition, an estimated 65 million people live with an incurable STD. Still, less than half of adults 18 to 44 years of age have ever been tested for an STD other than HIV/AIDS (SIECUS, 2003). These numbers are alarming because 15 million people is a lot that have one or more STDs, and 65 million people live with an incurable STD.
