Brooks conveys to his audience that girls and boys need to learn differently in order to learn the same material, because boys being in the same school as girls and being taught the same way is detrimental to them. His thought that if young men continue to stop reading, they will drop out of school and college. The ideas brought through in this story to some might seem drastic, due to the fact that Brook’s is not basing his statements on any facts and making it more about an opinion.
