Whenever you go out to eat at a restaurant, you might see various families playing on iPhones, and iPads and not communicating with each other. Everywhere you look, numerous kids have cellphones, have access to the internet, and have a television in the household; if they are lucky enough, children might even have a television in their bedroom. Technology is booming and has increasingly become a problem, especially in children and adolescents. When it comes to technology, more children are not only being exposed to technology at a younger age, but they are also being exposed to technology at home and at school. Parents need to limit their children’s use of technology because too much exposure to technology has some serious drawbacks such as increasing cyberbullying rates, making children more susceptible to obesity, along with much more. First, cyberbullying has become a problem over the past couple of years as technology usage has amplified. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying over the internet that targets adolescents. Cyberbullying can be tweeting a rumor about a person, sending hurtful messages to someone through text message, or even spreading unflattering pictures of someone on Instagram. Social media sites such as Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, are all websites that children have access to, which increases the chance for cyberbullying. Social media is not the root of all evil, however, they provide an environment for abuse and destructive behavior…
