The current CEO and Chairman, Jeffrey P. Bezos launched Amazon.com in 1994 to serve the people as an online bookstore. Today, Amazon is the most customer-centric company and the world’s highest-earning online retailers with the projection of $107 billion in revenue in 2015 (Amazon’s report 2015). With the workforce of more than 230,800 employees, the company headquarters in Seattle, Washington, and is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol “AMZN” (Amazon’s report 2015). Initially, Amazon started as an online bookstore company and later diversified its business activities into selling software, jewelry, apparel, furniture, electronics, health and beauty goods, etc. The company has exclusive websites for US, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Japan, China, India, Mexico and Brazil and sells its products all around the world through these websites (Amazon’s report 2015).
Amazon is also involved in manufacturing of electronic devices such as Kindle e-reader, Fire tablets, televisions and phones. Additionally, Amazon offers an annual membership service program called Amazon Prime that provides free shipping, streaming of movies and television episodes, as well as using e-books for Kindle devices. Likewise, Amazon Marketplace programs allow third-party sellers to offer their products on Amazon’s retail websites to fulfill orders through Amazon’s fulfillment service.
