What is heart failure?
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is no longer able to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. Heart failure doesn’t mean that your heart has stopped working or it’s about to stop working. However, it is a serious condition that requires a medical care. Heart failure develops time, as the heart’s pumping action grows weaker. This can affect the right side of the heart only, or it can affect sides of heart. However, most cases involve both side of the heart. Right side heart failure occurs if the cant pumps enough blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen. Left side heart failure occurs if the heart can’t pump enough oxygen-rick blood to the rest of the body. Not all conditions that lead to heart failure can

However, with treatment signs and symptoms of heart failure can improve, and the heart sometimes becomes stronger. Treatment may help you livelonger and reduce your chance of dying suddenly. Doctors sometimes can correct heart failure bhy6y treating the underlying cause. For example, repairing a heart valve or controlling a fast heart rhythm may reverse heart failure. But for most people, the treatment of heart failure involves a balance of the right medication and, in some cases, use of devices that help the heart beat and contract properly. Doctors usually treat heart failure with a combination of medications. Depending on you symptoms, the patient might have taken one or more medication. Some of the drugs that the doctor might want patient to take is Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, Angiotensin II receptor blockers, Beta-blockers, Diuretics, Aldosterone antagonists, inotropes and digoxin. The patient might need to take two or more medication to treat heart failure. The doctor may prescribe other hear medication as well, such as nitrates for chest pain, a statin to lower cholesterol or blood thinning medications to help prevent blood clots along with heart failure medication. Moreover, in some cases, doctor recommends surgery to treat the underlying problem that led to heart failure. Some of the surgery are coronary bypass surgery, heart valve repair or replacement, implantable cardioverter0 defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) or biventricular pacing, heart pumps, and heart

Kidney damage- Heart failure can reduce the blood flow to your kidneys, which can eventually cause kidney failure if left untreated. This can lead to the need for dialysis. 2. Heart valve problems-The valves of your heart keep blood flowing in the proper direction. If there is a problem, like stenosis, which is narrowing where the valve opens, blood can back flow in the wrong direction.…

Heart failure is when the heart stops functioning properly, this is a cause of death. Congestive heart failure would be when the heart does not pump blood as well as it should. According to Mayo Clinic it states that, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors help someones hearts get in good or even better conditions. Essentially, ACE helps people with systolic heart failure. Systolic heart failure is when the ejection fraction is decreased, this leaves an unusual volume of blood in the left ventricle.…

Heart failure There are many ways to treat people diagnosed with heart failure: diuretics, nitrates, and change of diet. These treatments have been effective but it is important to explore other options. Many of these treatments achieve a relief in symptoms on patients with heart failures but what if we can treat these patients with fewer side effects or increase their survival rate? Understanding Heart Failure Before exploring some of the latest research it is important to understand what heart failure is. Heart failure (HF) is an abnormal heart syndrome that involves the inability for the heart to pump and/or fill in a sufficient manner.…

The pacemaker helps treat an issue called arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are problems with the beat of your heartrate. There are 4 different types of arrhythmias, premature which is when you get extra beats (the most common type), Supraventricular tachycardia is when your heart beats too fast, ventricular rhythm issues can halt the ventricle from pumping blood into your body (this could result in cardiac arrest), and Bradycardia is when your heart beats too slow meaning not enough blood gets to your brains sometimes meaning you could pass out. If someone is unlucky to have arrhythmias the heart could possible not be able to pump enough blood throughout your body. This can result in symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, or fainting.…

The patient with systolic heart failure, or systolic ventricular dysfunction, would present to the clinic with very different symptoms from the patient with diastolic heart failure. In systolic heart failure, the heart is incapable of producing enough cardiac output to supply vital tissues. Because of this insufficiency, the hard must work harder to provide adequate blood supply to its vital organs and tissues. Cardiac output is determined by heart rate, how fast the heart is beating, and stroke volume, how much blood is being pumped through the heart. However, stroke volume is determine by three key factors: contractility, preload, and afterload (McCance 1190).…

Coronary artery disease is said to be the most common cause of heart failure, as time goes on your body’s arteries become narrow from build-up of fatty deposits (atherosclerosis), therefore blood flow is reduced. Eisen et al state that a myocardial infarction is one major cause of heart failure in patients with coronary artery disease (10). When you have a high blood pressure this is called hypertension, a high blood pressure means that the heart is working harder to circulate the blood, overtime the heart muscles becomes stiff or too weak to efficiently pump the blood. The primary aetiology of heart disease is difficult to determine especially when a patient has many different diseases that could potentially trigger heart failure. Some other causes of heart failure are diabetes mellitus and atrial fibrillation (8).…

It is very important to seek medical care right away for episodes of chest pain. The sooner you get treatment, the sooner you may return to your normal activities. If a large area of heart muscle lacks oxygen and medical care is not provided; a weak heart muscle, heart failure or sudden death may result. WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF A HEART ATTACK IS SUSPECTED Aspirin may be given, if you are able to take it. This makes your blood "thinner" (less likely to clot).…

The disease I chose for my project is the disease heart attack, also called myocardial infection. A heart attack is when the heart cannot receive oxygen and the muscle begins to die. In scientific ways, a heart attack is when a “heart attack occurs and when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked, most often by a build-up of fat, cholesterol and other substances, which form a plaque in the arteries that feed the heart (coronary arteries). The interrupted blood flow can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle.” (Cliff Staff 1.) “The main system that is affect by a heart attack is the cardiovascular system but all the other systems are affect too” (Mishra).…

Heart failure is when the heart is too weak to pump blood efficiently, and cannot provide proper cardiac output that the body needs to maintain the body’s metabolic needs. Also, heart failure is when the heart muscle has become damaged and cannot contract and pump blood up and through the valves and out through both sides of the heart or the heart muscle has become too stiff. This process mainly relates to the heart muscles of the ventricle chambers. The ventricles are the main problem within heart failure, they are either too stiff or not contracting properly. The heart ventricles cannot pump hard enough during systole, which is called systolic heart failure.…
