What is heart failure?
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is no longer able to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. Heart failure doesn’t mean that your heart has stopped working or it’s about to stop working. However, it is a serious condition that requires a medical care. Heart failure develops time, as the heart’s pumping action grows weaker. This can affect the right side of the heart only, or it can affect sides of heart. However, most cases involve both side of the heart. Right side heart failure occurs if the cant pumps enough blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen. Left side heart failure occurs if the heart can’t pump enough oxygen-rick blood to the rest of the body. Not all conditions that lead to heart failure can …show more content…
However, with treatment signs and symptoms of heart failure can improve, and the heart sometimes becomes stronger. Treatment may help you livelonger and reduce your chance of dying suddenly. Doctors sometimes can correct heart failure bhy6y treating the underlying cause. For example, repairing a heart valve or controlling a fast heart rhythm may reverse heart failure. But for most people, the treatment of heart failure involves a balance of the right medication and, in some cases, use of devices that help the heart beat and contract properly. Doctors usually treat heart failure with a combination of medications. Depending on you symptoms, the patient might have taken one or more medication. Some of the drugs that the doctor might want patient to take is Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, Angiotensin II receptor blockers, Beta-blockers, Diuretics, Aldosterone antagonists, inotropes and digoxin. The patient might need to take two or more medication to treat heart failure. The doctor may prescribe other hear medication as well, such as nitrates for chest pain, a statin to lower cholesterol or blood thinning medications to help prevent blood clots along with heart failure medication. Moreover, in some cases, doctor recommends surgery to treat the underlying problem that led to heart failure. Some of the surgery are coronary bypass surgery, heart valve repair or replacement, implantable cardioverter0 defibrillators (ICDs), Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) or biventricular pacing, heart pumps, and heart
