Studying the physiological and pathological ways of infectious disease are the main interests in biology that have captivated me in the scientific field of research. The way the infectious agents evades our own bodily defenses and how they evolve to ward off medicine is a biological marvel that has me wanting to dissect every inch of the mechanisms that allows them to be such cunning infectious agents. It is this raw passion that fuels me to strive for research opportunities that could bring me closer to uncovering the secrets of the deadliest threats to the human species.
I was raised on the foundation of belief that I was to be a part of something bigger than myself and that I was brought to make use of our natural and technological resources to better those around me especially those rooted in poverty even though I wasn’t that better off than them either. Since entering college I have done nothing but push myself out of my own bubble. I believe exposure is the best medium for growth and individualization. My sophomore year was my breakout year in terms of me maturing. I became an active member of the American Medical Student Association; there I would engage in community service projects and meet medical professionals from across the nation. I took it a step further by joining Panther leap 1.0, 2.0, and eventually becoming an RA for on campus housing along with being a Panther Leap Mentor.
