Voices in your head, sounds coming out of nowhere and visual hallucinations means that you have what is called schizophrenia. It is a disease and there is no cure to stop the voices and visuals. Schizophrenics believe that people are trying to harm them, read their mind and control their thoughts. Schizophrenia is a mental disease in which reality emerge as confusing. Schizophrenia most often comes in late minority or early adulthood. Nevertheless can actually strike at anytime. There are five sub-types of schizophrenia ( paranoid, catatonic, disorganized, undifferentiated, and residual) so symptoms may differ between them. Some hallucinations can be visual. There are several symptoms. Usually if a person has more than five

symptoms they are diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. A few of the symptoms are confusion, inability to make decisions, neglect, personal hygiene, and a tendency to argue. A person can feel like someone trying to kill them, cheating on them, spying on them etc... It makes life complicated and hard to live because it effects so many factors of life. For example they cant have regular friendships or go shopping. Most probably wouldn’t even be able to have a job.

People that have catatonic schizophrenia are usually are more accident prone. Also have problems with there motor skills which produce symptoms. They may reiterate motions over and over again. Sometimes they show involuntary movements, grimacing, and mannerism. An example would be a person that stands in one spot for long time and don’t move. Not one muscle and in a uncomfortable position. They can be flexing there whole body and still wont move for hours. Catatonic means your in a coma and paranoid is when you feel everyone is out to get

Some are a little bipolar as well. Majority of the people with this disease are able to live a happy and normal life. As long as their not drinking or taking any drugs they will be fine. When taking the right medication schizophrenia is manageable. The medication will cause drowsiness, blurred vision, dizziness, and sleepiness. Less common are muscle contractions, being restless, and problems moving. For some it’s a day to day battle. This disease is very misunderstood and not only effects the person with it but their family as well. Its hard for some families to accept the disease. They don’t know how to take care of the schizophrenic. Also not knowing how to react towards them. Men and woman are effected equally by schizophrenia. Higher rate of schizophrenia are in twins. Schizophrenia disease affects 1% of populations. Since schizophrenics cant think clearly its hard to agree with them. It’s a myth when people say that a person with several different personalities have schizophrenia. Also when they say schizophrenia is a rare condition and schizophrenics are a danger to themselves and others. The facts to those are a person
