This is done by finding commons traits within each personality and trying to combine them into 1 personality. What is interesting about this disorder is that people who suffer from DID actually believe they have multiple personalities which then take on a life of their own within the individual. But, the use of medication is not recommended. Maintenance and effective use of prescriptions given to the multiple personality states is difficult to attain because Dissociative Identity Disorder can actually influence how a medication affects the body according to the personality or identity that is active at the time. So if medication is prescribed, it should be carefully monitored.
