Movie Review “Super Size Me”
Information and issues I have become aware of: The movie “Super Size Me” is a great film that exposes the danger of fast food consumption as a steady diet, particularly McDonalds food in this case. I have grown up loving McDonalds food. Eating out there wasn’t something that my family did on a regular basis but when we did it was a special treat. Apple Pies, Cheeseburgers, French Fries, those were my favorites. I never once wondered about the health ramifications for eating such food. Reflections I had after watching the movie; I was astonished by the overwhelming proof provided by this journalist’s 30-day documentary. Proof that fast food is unhealthy and deadly. I immediately spoke with my wife upon returning home from class and made her aware of what I had learned. We both agreed that we cant feed our kids this kind of food. I thought of all the times I stopped at McDonalds to get my kids happy meals because it made them “happy” and because it was easier thing to do compared to cooking. I thank God for using this journalist to expose the danger of this food. There is no way I could ever allow my kids or myself to eat at McDonalds again without having some caution.
The most valuable lesson I learned from this film is that I must be aware of what I eat. Taste over health will kill me and fast over cooking will hurt me. I have to make a conscious effort to eat healthy.
The one question I have after watching the film is; how can McDonalds and these other fast food companies get away with offering such unhealthy food?
What is the one thing that I will implement as a result of this movie; I will not eat any french fries from a fast food restaurant
