Redwall is a very exciting book filled with action and adventure, it also has many gruesome battles. Redwall was written in 1986 by Brian Jacques. It has 352 pages and was published by The Berkley publishing Group, a member of Penguin Putnam, Inc. Brian Jacques was born in Liverpool, England and as a young boy he went to school at St. John’s school. At one time he was given an assignment to write a short story about animals and he wrote about a bird that cleaned a crocodile’s teeth. His teacher said that he copied the story from somewhere because the story Brian wrote was so good. Brian always loved to write but it was then he knew he had a talent for it.

Mossflower Woods is a large forested area surrounding the Redwall Abby. It is also home to many good wood land creatures that live within its borders. Mossflower Woods also bears some evil creatures like the horrible Asmosdeus. Asmosdeus is a huge evil snake that lives in a cave and occasionally comes into the woods and eats the helpless creatures that live within it. Cluny the Scourge is the main villain in this story. He is a greedy, evil, one eyed rat that wants power, which is why he and his army are attacking the Redwall Abby, so they can control over the land and make the mice work as their slaves. At one point in the story Cluny is trying to steal this picture of Martian the Warrior which hangs in the Redwall Abby, the picture pretty much gives the Redwallers hope and he thinks if he can manage to steal this picture he can destroy
