I finished reading the book Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan on April 18, 2017. A part that disappointed me was when I found out that Sadie’s mom died, because if I was in Sadie's position I would feel like have a part of me missing and probably cry once in awhile, especially thinking about the fact that I would not be born without her. While reading the book,I wondered if the stranger in the the beginning of the book was actually their mother because in most books the mysterious person is almost always someone who he/she knows or is related to. My favorite character is Carter, because even when Sadie does thing she shouldn’t be doing or starts to act like a brat Carter never gets annoyed and makes sure she is safe. While reading the book, I got

In his book, Triangle, David Von Drehle walks the reader through a detailed journey of New York City in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. My first and foremost reason for choosing this book was because of my own family history and coming from ancestors who experienced being raped or having forbidden love with their slave owners. My mother's side of the family are descendants of our countries 10th president John Tyler. My mother younger siblings were the first not to be born in Richmond, Virginia. My family was given acres beyond acres of land.…

In the first chapter of The Enneagram I came across a sentence written by Parke that ignited a spark a curiosity in me. The sentence told me that I would find myself, in the pages of this book (Parke 6). After digesting that sentence and all the possibilities within it, I was hungry for more. I read all nine-miniature portraits of which the Enneagram represents and started to think about what qualities in each best fit my overall personality. It was hard for me to narrow down one specific number because I found similarities to myself in each of the portraits but after further studying the numbers, I settled on one.…

Throughout the article, “God,” Simon Blackburn gives different insights that may seem logical to a person limited to a self-seeking mindset. Therefore, I will be making the argument that Blackburn is incorrect when claiming that, due to the existence of evil, there must not be an all-powerful God whom doesn’t care. Through his piece “God” Blackburn addresses various different cases through famous philosophers and theologians, namely Anselm, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Cleathnes. He firmly disagrees with these three scholars in their belief of the existence of God.…

The non-fiction book by Simon Parke titled The Enneagram made me think solely on myself. With the help of Parke, I was able to find a condensed version of my personality out of 9 varying choices. I knew what number I was on the Enneagram scale by reading the first sentence in one of his Miniature Portrait’s. It reads, “These people are sometimes seen as life’s carers”(Parke 35). This statement is very true about me in the way that I always care about other people and how they feel.…
