Stress itself is a universal human experience. All of us have stress, weather it comes from work, school, or people. We have the option to either to have or to not have stress. Many regions in the world cope and deal with stress differently since we enjoy a wide array of food, music, dance, film, sports, and literature that had their beginning. Therefore stress has its beginning, depending what cultural background you are from. Some studies of coping with stress began in Mumbai, India and the island Okinawa in Japan. Both of these studies are already making inroads into the United States and all around the world.

There is two types of stress, eustress and distress. Eustress is positive stress. Eustress prompts you to do what needs to be solved, accomplished or decided. Distress is negative stress. Distress is often related to the "out of your control" issues. I do believe that depending on your cultural background you have different types of stress. For example, Person A’s cultural background consist of maintaining a garden because it’s what they do for a living but Person B’s cultural background consist of a hobby to maintain a garden. I believe everyone should know the health benefits at an early age. It was shown to reduce cortisol levels which are known as the stress hormone and a higher production of lymphocytes, salivary immunoglobulin A (IgA) which is a first line of defense against respiratory infections, and most impressively cells that can kill of cancer.

My diet is already high in vegetables and fiber but I don’t see an effect on my stress levels. Although, I don’t frequently exercise and that should be the missing piece. People sometimes exercise to blow off steam from the stressful events of the day. Most Asians live longer than those in other countries. I did not know that they have a cultural practice where you are eating at an 80% fullness. I personally would never achieve to that point. I will maintain healthy by not smoking.

Having interactions with people can change your stress level in wonderful and terrible ways. When you are stressed out you should speak to someone who can understand you and relate to you. Being involved in your community can develop eustress too and I believe that spiritual practice does help you with coping with stress. Overall I have learned a lot from this and will definitely use them in my everyday
