personality disorder. The person who committed the murder of her old third grade teacher
because the teacher did not like her and bullied her, had antisocial personality disorder. While
the teacher was at fault for bullying a child, the motive was not strong enough to kill someone.
The defendant did a few things that led up to the murder of her third-grade teacher was fueled by

Social learning theory is considered one of the
strongest theories by criminologists because it talks about how the people and the environment
influences delinquency. However, the social learning theory is not perfect, it has one weakness.
The social learning theory assumes that “everyone has the same capacity for learning and ability
to respond with their future behavior to the consequences of their past behavior” (Frailing,
Harper, 110). Not everyone learns from their past behavior which is why there is a famous
saying, “history repeats itself”. Some people repeatedly make the same mistake again and again.
This is especially prevalent in incarcerated people. The recidivism in the United States is around
70 percent. This is a clear indication that the statement that everyone can learn from their past
behavior is not always correct.

Substance abuse is
when a person overindulges in drugs or alcohol. Substance dependence is when an individual
adapts to drugs or alcohol from repeatedly using it which builds up their tolerance. When these
individuals try to stop, they go into withdrawal. Someone who is dependent on substances such
as alcohol or drugs is more likely to die from it than substance abusers.
There was a study done at the York correctional institute in Connecticut which examined
41 female felons who had antisocial personality disorder. The basis for this study was to examine
how prevalent and severe substance abuse and dependence was and the use of substance related
to violence and other offenses. Previous studies have shown that aggressive behavior and
criminal behavior are associated with substance dependence. People who have anti-social
personality disorder are more susceptible to have severe substance dependence. Most women in
the study were ethnic. Only 35 percent were white. Their ages ranged from 18 to 49. The results
of the test indicated that 56 percent of these women were dependent on alcohol, 70 percent
