From what I come to know, they are used to offend someone. People use it as a “comeback” in an argument to, emotionally hurt someone. As of in art and entertainment they would use stereotypes relating to colored people as illiterate, fearful, uneducated, unaware of things, and etc. In the book, when Jim is telling Huck that he wants to get his family back, Huck says “I think you’re here, plain enough, but I you’re a tangle-headed old fool, Jim”. Huck is basically referring to him as a crazy man, that has no idea in what he is doing, not even thinking. Later on in the book Huck started to realize Jim had “human” feelings. This book practically took place in times of slavery. Slavery is a state of having restricted freedom. Slavery is when, you can’t shower, eat, or sleep when want. When their own lives can be bought as if they were a loaf of bread. When they aren’t treated like humans, but like pets. When they have “owners” instead of a boss. Where if they try living in freedom, they lose their lives. Slaves can get beaten, and whipped. Slaves weren’t allowed to live a normal life, they couldn’t have families because they’d get separated from each other. They weren’t allowed to marry unless, their owners approved. Children were unable to be around their parents. These are some of the reasons why Jim wanted his freedom. Slavery was the worst fucking way any human being came to show their “power”. They treated colored people like shit because of only one stupid reason, their skin color. Colored people are humans too! They didn’t see it that way back
