The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an amazing and inspiring book everyone should read. However,there are two amazing characters everyone should take a lesson from. Their names are Huck and Jim. Huck is a boy that faked his own death to escape his abusive father. Jim is a runaway slave. Jim ran away because he heard that his owner, Mrs. Watson was going to sell him again. These two characters play roles that point out major issues for society. Although Huck tries to see Jim as a friend and a father, society will not allow Huck to see Jim as anything other than a slave. Today is the day to find out how Huck really sees Jim. Huck in his own world does see Jim as a father figure, friend, and unfortunately a slave. Huck sees Jim as a friend. Huck sees Jim as a friend because in the book it says that Huck was very excited to see Jim after he ran away. In the end of the excerpt Huck says he wasn't going to tell anybody where Jim was. Jim promised Huck that he wasn't going to tell anybody where Huck was. This showed that Huck saw Jim as a friend. (Doc B) Later in the book Huck plays a trick on Jim. Huck and Jim had a very rough stormy night the night before. Huck tries to trick Jim into thinking the rough and stormy night before never even happened. The plan fails and Jim feels bad so Jim tells Huck how tricks make him feel. Tricks mad Jim feel like trash. Huck pulled this trick because he saw Jim as a slave and so he thought it was okay. (Doc D) When Jim gets sold back into slavery Huck writes a letter stating that Jim is a slave and where he is. (Doc E) Huck realizes that because Jim was sold back into slavery he has to rescue him so he doesn't have to work. Huck also realizes that Jim is a slave and he will be treated poorly if he doesn't rescue Jim with Tom Sawyer. (Doc F) Unfortunately people are still treated poorly
