Chapter 7
Huck wakes up and sees his father standing over him. Hi is fixated on the gun, but Huck tells him that he heard someone last night, and took it for protection. His father believes him. He goes out to the river and sees if he has gotten any fishes. Instead he sees a canoe, and shoots at it. With nobody in the canoe, he takes it and hides it, intending to show his dad later, His dad came later, but didn’t see the canoe, he hurt Huck because he was going too slow. They got the catfish off of the line, and left. Later his dad is going out of town, and locks Huck in the house. When he was sure his dad wasn’t coming back, Huck went back to carving out the log for him to go through. Huck then took some food supplies and put them

He set up a tent and a fishing line to catch his supper. After staying in the woods for a couple of days, Huck gets overly cautious of everything. Whenever he sees something in the distance he shoots at it, but it turns out to be a piece of wood or a shadow. When Huck got hungry he went to the Illinois bank, to get dinner. He suddenly hears the sound of horses and people. He heard a man say they were going to stay there for the night, Huck paddled out of there in his canoe. He tried finding a good camping ground, he searched through the night, when he saw smoke from a fire. He got closer and saw that it was Jim, Miss Watson's’ slave, lying on the ground. Jim thinks that Huck is a ghost, but Huck quickly explains everything to him. Huck is happy to see him, because now he isn’t lonely. They worked together to make a fire and cook some food. Huck is curious as to why Jim is in the woods, he finds out that Jim ran away. Jim explains what happened to him and exactly how he got there. Huck and Jim have a conversation about money and bad omens. Jim explains that he invested in stocks, and was once very rich. They end their day talking about how Jim is going to be very rich again, some
