Stereotypes In America

America was founded by the founding fathers under the principles that “all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.'' (Corley.1) Throughout the years, we as a nation have not exercised this belief and instead discriminated each other greatly. This led to much destruction on our very own streets where even many innocent people and bystanders have lost their lives. My vision for America is to come together as a nation and put an end to discrimination amongst women, differences of religion and how races are stereotyped in our society today. For instance, when you think of the religion Islam, you may think of the notorious groups ISIL, also known as the Islamic State, and Al-Qaida instead, and not of all of the kind and peaceful people who are also a part of the religion yet do not believe that it is right as to what the previously stated terrorist groups partake in. Another prime example was September 11, 2001 when four planes were hijacked and flown into the sides of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and also into the ground in a rural open field located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. This was America’s greatest disasters of all times that claimed the lives of 2,602 civilians and injured a numerous amount. Thousands were affected physically as well as emotionally. The event took a huge toll on America. Eventually later that day it was founded that the group that was involved with the malicious attack was the Islamic group known as Al-Qaeda. This gave all Islamic people who at the time lived in America a bad reputation and they were greatly feared and looked down upon all because of one group of people that wanted to make their mark in the world through disaster and terror hurt our country. Islamic citizens received a lot of hatred towards the event and still to this day still have that reputation that they have to carry around on their shoulders. The sad thing was, was that most of the Islamic people that lived in America were good but it was hard for people to look past the event because it greatly wounded our
