Stephanie Faleski Stepping Stones Analysis

Improved Essays
The painting that I viewed was titled Stepping Stones by Stephanie Faleski. The medium of this painting is oil on canvas measuring approximately 2 feet in both height and width. This is a realistic painting which appears to be in a forest type setting with an opened space. There were several trees placed in the scene showing off their beautiful colors of light and dark green. The trees were very tall, appearing to almost touch the skies if looking up. Some were aligned around a circular light brown path along the ground, appearing to be dirt while the rest of the trees aligned themselves along the shape of the small stream. The sun was shining down towards the left of the viewer, casting shadows and the different shades of the trees colors. Even though this was indeed a painting, the sun itself looked very bright by the colors that the artist used. Taking the bright yellows and whites, having the sun appear to shine brightly in the afternoon with the light blue sky becoming its background. …show more content…
The scenery looked beautiful, peaceful, like a place to escape from the world and just a place to think. Studying the painting I believe that the young boy has been to the area many times. Because there were no shoes in the scene I believe he already knows what he’ll get himself into. The image made me think, made me imagine ideas of myself being there. I would perhaps just sit by the stream, dip my feet in the cool water and think, or I could even take a relaxing gaze at the sky along the sturdy bridge and dream, or even bring along a pad and pen and write down as many ideas I can think of for a story or just any thought that would come to mind. It also looked like a place to escape. Perhaps the young boy was probably stressed out from his day whether it could be schooling or family life or whatever the cause may be, he knows to go to this particular area in the forest, not too close in space and yet not too wide

The sign near the painting explains the scene of the art, the forest is called “heath forests”, which is a type of tropical forest told by the ecologist P. W. Richards. The mythology the artist is trying to display is despite the poor soil of heath forests, which is normally acidic and sandy; the kerangas forests are filled with trees, most of them with the diameter of three inches, and under thirty feet tall. Most of the artist paintings have been made of acrylic, I could tell that the artist favorite medium is acrylic. The artist individual style retains in wildlife, all of his paintings are sketches of wildlife. All of his paintings are in the biodiversity in the art of Carel Pieter Brest van Kempen exhibit of the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, because they deal with the life science portion of the…

The father best exemplifies this when he states “You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget” (McCarthy 12). This shows that compared to the child, the father does not seem to possess a need for knowledge. The father has gone through losing his wife and he is currently fighting to keep him and his son alive. The father does not look into the past because he knows that the best thing for him and his son to do is to just keep moving forward. While the need for knowledge can be a good thing for the child, sometimes it can be hurtful for the father.…

He painted “Forest Fire” with an oil panel canvas, similar to most of his paintings at the time. Starting in the left hand corner, I see a bundle of cream, beige, and black birds flying away in a frantic. Then a multi-colored bird sits on the far end branch, almost peacefully, unbothered by the chaos surrounding it. A little below the colorful bird is an ash hawk, with its wings sprung out, kind of looks as if he is controlling the situation. Below him is two small golden deer, one of them is looking at the fire, probably thinking why are we still standing here.…

In this exceedingly powerful painting, “Figures in a Landscape” painted in 1972 by Sidney Goodman, a child, woman, and man are in what looks to be a park because of the sandbox and blue and red swing set. In the background the mountains are bright and happy with houses surrounded by many tall green trees. On the right side of the painting is a huge dark gloomy cloud like when a murder is about to occur in a horror movie. The figures look like something is going on in their mind, maybe they are unhappy with each other or something is really upsetting them. When I see this painting I feel as if the figures are in there own world not aware of their surroundings.…

Art is like a window to the mind, representing how one thinks or what one feels. In some cases, it may contain elements from one’s unconscious; elements that even they are not aware of themselves. Art has zero qualifications, allowing it to be crafted by anyone and everyone, while still containing components of its creator and provoking feelings in its spectators. (Rustin, 2008) Of the pieces involved in the Best of the Season exhibit at the Webber Gallery, Lunch With Einstein by David D’Alessandris is one of the more “unusual” pieces. It contains four figures, whose heads seem to be taken from elsewhere and pasted onto their bodies.…

The action takes place outside the city in front of a large boulder, and there is a church seen in the distance. The mood of the painting is very bleak and dull. The colors used are in earthly tones, and there is a strong overall contrast of dark and light. This dramatic lighting technique can be seen in the central figure. His outstretched arms form a V line.…

However, it returns when Corey discovers that his mother has a terminal illness, and that he might have to fend for himself in the near future. Then, they transition to the forest again in the film’s closing shot, when the two are on the couch crying about their predicament. This is an ingenious directorial choice on the part of Litwak. The forest is used to convey the feeling of being lost.…
