To start off, Islam began in the 7th century in saudi Arabia and is the youngest of the world religions. The prophet Muhammad (circa 570-632 A.D.) introduced Islam in 610 A.D. after experiencing what he claimed to be an angelic visitation. The Arab founder of Islam is Muhammad. He dictated the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam, which Muslims believe to be the preexistent, perfect words of Allah (Origin of Islam). This is not what all Muslims believe because everyone is different, but following the Islam religion is common for Muslims. The spread of Islam in Africa began in the 7th to 9th century, brought to North Africa initially under the Umayyad Dynasty. Extensive trade networks throughout North and West Africa created a medium through which Islam spread peacefully, initially through the merchant class (Islam.org). The Arabic word 'Islam' simply means 'submission', and derives from a word meaning 'peace'. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. 'Mohammedanism' (Islamic Texts Society). One way Muslims follow their religion of Islam is by following the five Pillars. The five pillars of Islam are Shahada, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj. Shahada means sincerely reciting the Muslim profession of faith. Salat means performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day. To start, we produced a script. Once we finished typing it up, we printed it out to have in our video. As we recorded for the video we used Mr. Bock’s office so it was a quiet space. Hana was the expert and I asked questions which she answered. After we filimed, we combinded the videos and edited them on a editing app on my phone. I wanted to make a video because I made a video with Hana for a past History Project and I really had fun doing it! I felt a video is good way that you could also spread information because then others are able to watch it and learn about it too!
