The United States was by far the world’s greatest power after the World War II and the country was boasting the world’s most powerful navy and air force as well as owning atomic bomb. The only power that could rival the US was the communist Soviet Union. The tension between the two nations created fear in the US and altered the American lives dramatically. This silent tension was fought through ideology and proxy wars, like the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In Europe at the time was divided between East and West which affected Germany the most, even the capital city Berlin was split that result to the building of the Berlin Wall.
