Is Soma a way to escape the problems in our world today or should we say illegal drugs in our world today?. Today all over the world there are so many types of drugs that are used to free the mind of all the pain in this world that may impact lives negatively. Not to mention many people In our world believe that a type of drug can fix there problems or at least give them some time to relax and not stress, For example in the such depressing grasping story of a “Brave New World” their world uses a drug that is referred to their so called soma. “Soma” in our world today have something similar to illegal drugs, Although they’re not named soma, Two major drugs that have leading cause for over dosage that us humans use in the world today are Cocaine, …show more content…
‘Researchers compared the death rate of these people with that of the general population to find that the death rate for cocaine-only users was 5.1 times higher than that of the general population. And it was 14.3 times higher for users of cocaine and heroin”.(Huff Post Healthy Living). Soma in brave new world was not only used to keep calm and relax while being frustrated but it was also used to keep the distance with the world and the pain that they will go to for example, Lenina while she was laying In the hospital bed feeling nothing but worthless and filthy felt the need of soma because of the pain that she felt of being unwanted. Soma is used similarly today because, people in the world today use these type of drugs although they’re not legal. These drugs are also not referred to soma but are referred to, Cocaine, And heroin. These type of illegal drugs are grasping many lives because they’re known to make you feel unstoppable and good. Although these drugs may make us humans feel great there is a tremendously consequences for most of the people who actually take these type of illegal drugs not to mention back in the 1900’s most men and women would have a part in these
